Healthcare professionals in Alameda now have a faster, more flexible way to complete American Heart Association® BLS, ACLS, and PALS training. Safety Training Seminars offers Self-Guided Learning™ courses at its Alameda location — 2059 Clinton Avenue, Suite 2F — just steps from Alameda Hospital at 2070 Clinton Ave. You complete the online portion on your own schedule, then finish your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center. No fixed class times. No waiting on an instructor.
This format works especially well for nurses, physicians, EMTs, and other healthcare staff who work rotating shifts or need to fit training around patient care responsibilities.
Self-Guided Learning™ is an American Heart Association course format that combines two independent components:
The online component uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your knowledge and adjusts the content path based on your individual gaps. If you already understand a concept, the system moves you forward. If you need more review, it focuses there. Most learners complete the online portion in one to three hours.
The skills session takes place on a Voice Assisted Manikin (VAM), which delivers real-time, objective performance feedback on compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilation. You practice and repeat the required skills until you meet the American Heart Association’s defined criteria. Upon successful completion of both components, you receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard the same day.
HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.
Safety Training Seminars offers three core Self-Guided Learning courses through its Alameda location:
The Alameda training center sits within close proximity to Alameda Hospital (2070 Clinton Ave) and is easily accessible for healthcare teams coming from Highland Hospital (1411 E. 31st St., Oakland) and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. For professionals working at any of these facilities, completing a skills session close to the workplace removes a major logistical barrier.
The format itself eliminates the biggest frustration with traditional classroom training: fixed scheduling. You are not waiting for a class date to open up. You complete the HeartCode® Complete online course when it suits you, then schedule your skills session at the CPR Verification Station learning center at your convenience.

I took this class as part of an offer from my work agency, and it was an exceptional class overall! It is easy to say all of the wonderful raves about this training, but a few items that would make this a 5-star for me: 1. The trainer spoke very quickly. In a room full of different staff members with differing learning styles, I found the fast-paced taking of the training to be challenging to follow along and take notes at times (even if he did repeat it often)! 2. While there were hands-on exercises (which is necessary), visual learners like me, also need visual words to follow along! Especially when the trainer delivers the material speaking very quickly. It would be great to have a packet on-hand, or even a digital manual, during the training to refer to. I'd like to drill the "30 compression, 2 breaths..." into my head and reading it while doing it and talking about it can only reinforce it. 3. An orientation to the trainer would have been nice. Our trainer had great energy; however, he simply jumped right into the training right away...No name introduction from him, how long he's been in this line of work, his background, etc. 4. There was no post-training evaluation/survey. Only a Google Review offered to us a couple of weeks later. I think the Google Review platform is smart, but it didn't allow us time to give our specific trainer the feedback in real time, while memories are fresh! Those are the areas I'd hope to see in a future CPR/First-Aid Training, but we do appreciate the infant/baby focus! Much needed.Posted on R OlowofelaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I thoroughly enjoyed the BLS certification course provided by Safety Training Seminars, which allowed me to gain hands-on experience and a comprehensive understanding of adult and pediatric CPR and AED techniques through the American Heart Association's gold-standard training. The effective instruction and interactive environment of the course prepared me well for my CPR certification renewal and left me feeling confident in my newfound skills.
